Lecture 22- Pancreas and Spleen Flashcards
Pancreas is a glandular organ?
Endocrine and exocrine - like liver
Pancreatic head location?
in concavity of duodenum, Unicate process wraps behind SM vessels
Pancreatic neck location?
anterior to SM vessel origins
Pancreatic tail location?
passes into lienorenal ligament, in contact w linus of spleen
Ducts of pancreas?
Main duct: tail of pancreas to ampulla of vater; Accessory duct: drains into head and then duodenum via minor duodenal papilla
Blood supply of pancreas?
Superior pancreaticoduodenal artery (from common hepatic), Dorsal an Greater pancreatic (from splenic) and inferior pancreaticduodenal (from superior mesentery)
Venous drainage of pancreas?
Portal system; splenic vein or SMV through liver into IVC
Lymphatics of pancreas?
Dual lymphatics: Coeliac nodes (T12) and SM nodes (L1)
ANS to pancreas?
Coeliac plexus - greater sphlanchic nerve and vagus nerve; pain referred to epigastric region
Spleen Location?
deep to ribs 9-11 in left hyperchondrium
Gastrosplenic ligament carries?
short gastric and gastro-epiploic vessels
Splenorenal ligament?
to left kidney, carries splenic vessels and tail of pancreas
Spatial relationships w spleen?
Anterior: stomach, splenic flexure of colon, tail of pancreas; Posterior: L. Kidney, ribs 9-11
Blood supply to spleen?
Splenic artery (from coeliac axis)
Venous drainage from spleen?
Splenic vein (into portal vein)
