What are some interviewing techniques to avoid?
Providing false assurance/reassurance, interrupting the patient, giving unsolicited advice, talking too much, and speaking in professional jargon
What do you do when communicating to geriatric patients?
Do not assume that they are senile/confused and locate a hearing aid, glasses, and/or dentures before leaving
What are Base Station Radios?
A station in a fixed place that contains a transmitter and a receiver
What are mobile/portable radios?
Installed in a vehicle and used to communicate with a dispatcher and medical control
What are repeater-based systems?
Receives messages and signals on one frequency, then automatically retransmits them on a second frequency
What digital equipment is used?
Cellular telephones or satellite phones
What information can come through dispatch?
Nature/severity of the injury/illness/incident, the location of the incident, the number of patients, responses by other agencies, special information, and the time dispatched
