Explain the purpose of biotechnology.

It is the use of biological agents for technological progression, and has applications in medicine, agriculture, and industry.

Describe gel electrophoresis and polymerase chain reaction.
A
Electrophoresis is when DNA fragments from seven samples run on a gel, stained with a fluorescent dye, are viewed under UV light. Polymerase chain is used to amplify a specific sequence of DNA.

Describe the process by which vaccines prevent illness.
A
Vaccines have a small portion of the virus they are designed to combat within them and when it is injected your immune system uses this small portion to learn how to fight off that virus.
