Landing Gear & Brakes Flashcards

1
Q

What involve “confirm green light”?

A

The presence of the green light means:

Q

How many WOW sensors are there on the aircraft?

A

6, two per landing gear.
Those six signals are processed by two PSEM, proximity sensor electronic module, to determine if the aircraft is on ground or in flight.
In addition to that, each landing gear has two unplock sensor and two downlock sensor, in case of discrepancy between them, the sensor in agreement with the lever position will be considered valid.

Q

What happens if two WOW sensors fail on the same strut?

A

On ground we’ll have LG NO DISPATCH, and the PSEM will activate a logic to prevent the gear from moving up.
In flight the landing gear lever will be stuck in the DOWN position, with a possible message LH WOW SYS FAIL

Q

Why in the memory item for landing gear lever can not be moved up it says “if climb performance is required to clear obstacle” ?

A

It is to prevent the possibility of aircraft structural damage, only in case of climb performance required you will do it.

Q

When is the case to use the electrical override switch to extend the landing gear?

A

When the landing gear lever control box fails.
The switch override the PSEM and commands a normal extension.

Q

Using the alternate gear extension, what could be necessary to do if one gear does not lock in DOWN position?

A

It may be necessary to slip the airplane, change the drag on the gear, and locking it.

Q

Below which speed you don’t have LOCKED WHEEL protection and ANTISKID protection?

A

Locked wheel below 30 kts
Antiskid below 10 kts, thus allowing the pilot to lock and pivot on a wheel for maneuvering.
Antiskid is not available for emergency brake system.

Q

Do the wheels continue spinning when retracting?

A

No, automatically wheel braking prevent the main LG from being retracted while spinning.
And there’s also a dedicated device for the nose gear.

Q

How many full emergency brake can you do with hydraulic system failure?

A

6.
The system has pressure accumulators isolated from both hydraulic system 1 and 2, which normally feed the emergency parking brake system.

Q

After a power up, can you engage the steering with the airplane moving?

A

No the first engage has to be done with aircraft stopped, because the hardcover test might not be successful and STEER FAIL may be displayed.
