The system operated only if there are two AC electrical source.
On ground with only one AC, each windshield heating performs it’s power up bit, heating the corresponding windshield for 120”.
In flight in case of single AC source only the left windshield will be heated, if this fail, the right will be heated.

Whenever an engine is running or the airplane is airborne.

Upon landing when airspeed is below 45 kt.
