1st LCC
Team up with 1st OV if fire in front and there is a front fire escape.
If aerial ladder, operate in a manner that will not impede return to pedestal. If you must leave, notify officer.
If tower ladder, remain at pedestal throughout operation.
1st OV
Other than assisting LCC in front with rescue, vent fire area from exterior.
When there is only a rear fire escape, OR fire apartment is in the rear, team up with 1st roof FF
When there is a front fire escape AND the fire is in the front, team up with 1st LCC.
For top floor fires, take saw instead of hook.
If tower ladder, operate in basket
1st roof
Whenever possible, team up with 2nd roof to compete roof duties.
When necessary, team up with the OV and VEIS fire floor. If not needed on fire floor, VEIS floors above fire.
When necessary, team up with 2nd roof to VEIS all floors above the fire.
If tower ladder, OV will be in basket, roof must team up with 2nd roof or another available member to perform FIRE floor ventilation.
2nd truck officer
Floor above fire
Force one or more doors for area of refuge
Ensure all officers in fire floor are aware of intention prior to going to floor above.
Size up:
Severity and location of fire
Line placement and availability of water
Control of fire apartment door
Consideration of area of refuge
Direct and control HORIZONTAL vent of all floors above fire
2nd truck can - top floor fire tool assignment
Take two 6’ hooks instead of can
2 truck LCC position
Front of fire building. If not needed here, go above if teamed with 2nd OV.
Assist laddering with 1st truck
Use portable/aerial to assist civilians in distress
For top floor fire:
Assist 1st ladder with laddering if required
Assist in vertical and horizontal vent as ordered
Other duties as directed by company officer
2nd OV
Above the fire floor for VEIS. Must get permission from their officer prior to venting.
When there is a rear fire escape OR the fire is in the rear, team with 2nd roof.
If there is a front fire escape AND the fire is in the front, team up with 2nd LCC.
2nd roof
Contact roof FF and determine:
Route to roof
Problems encountered
Need for assistance
Need to seek alternate root.
When necessary, team up with 1st roof or 2nd OV and VEIS all floors above fire.
For top floor fires, take saw and 6’ Halligan hook
2nd truck - top floor fire
Inside team proceeds to top floor to assist in search. This permits deployment of six members (2 officers and 4 FFs) in critical top floor area.
2nd roof brings saw to roof.
2nd OV vents FIRE apartment from fire escape. Must request permission from 1st truck officer. If 1st OV has already vented fire apartment, vent adjoining AS ORDERED.
2nd truck LCC - shaft fire
Position rig to cover EXPOSED building. If not needed in fire building, they are available for work in the exposed building
2nd truck - shaft fire Outside team
If not needed in fire building, LCC, OV and roof are available to work in exposed building
1st truck officer notifies who about location of fire?
Notify engine officer and IC of location of fire
