what is an isoline?
a line on a map connecting points of equal value
what is a gradient?
defined as the amount of change in the measured variable over a short distance
what are stratiform clouds?
clouds of primarily horizontal development, or simply, stratus clouds. layered appearance.
what are cumuliform clouds?
clouds of primarily vertical development form individual, discrete, puffy clouds. higher than wide.
what are cirrus clouds?
so high that they are made of ice particles that tend to look thin and wispy
what does the term nimbus mean?
dark and rain-bearing
what are nimbostratus clouds?
nimbo = dark, rain-bearing
stratus = horizontal. low in the sky.
what are cumulonimbus clouds?
cumulus = vertical. tall.
nimbus = dark, rain-bearing

examples of isolines?
parallels, meridians, isotherms, isobars, isohyets, contour lines, isobaths
what are cirrocumulus clouds?
cirro = high height
cumulus = vertical
(high and wispy)
what are cirrostratus clouds?
cirro = high height
stratus = horizontal
(high & thin haze in sky)
what are altocumulus clouds?
alto = medium height
cumulus = vertical
(classic and individual)
what are meteorological stations?
points scattered over the earth’s surface
