L+D 3 Flashcards
a process that aims to identify gaps or deficiencies in both employee and organizational performance. Its primary focus is on the gaps between actual performance and desired performance
Needs Analysis
a gap between the way things are (current results) and the way they should be (desired results)
need
There are three levels of needs analysis:
organizational analysis, task analysis, and person analysis
studying the entire organization, including its strategy, environment, resources, and context.
Org Analysis
Steps of needs analysis
identify concern
importance of concern
consult constituencies
data collection
outcomes
the alignment of human resource practices with an organization’s business strategy
Strategic human resource management
the alignment of an organization’s training needs and programs with its strategy and objectives
Strategic training and development (ST&D)
a new federal government bill that came into effect on January 1, 2021 to create a safe work environment for all workers employed in federally regulated workplaces.
Bill C-65
identifying the organizational resources that may be necessary to design and implement training and development programs.
resource analysis
the collective attitudes of employees toward work, supervision, and company goals, policies, and procedures
Organizational climate
characteristics in the work environment that can either facilitate or inhibit the application of training on the job
training transfer climate
a description of the activities or work operations performed on a job and the conditions under which these activities are performed
task analysis
There are six steps involved in a task analysis:
Identify the target jobs.
Obtain a job description.
Develop rating scales to rate the importance and difficulty of each task, as well as the frequency with which it is performed.
Survey a sample of job incumbents.
Analyze and interpret the information.
Provide feedback on the results.
a set of procedures that focuses on understanding the mental and cognitive processes and skills required for performing a job
Cognitive Task Analysis
an assessment of team-based competencies (knowledge, skills, and attitudes) associated with the tasks
Team Task Analysis
the process of studying employee behaviour and performance to determine whether performance meets the work standards.
Person analysis
person analysis Three-Step Process
Define the desired performance
Determine the gap between desired and actual performance
Identify the obstacles to effective performance

identify barriers
an objective for a specific skill that is to be performed in the work environment exactly as it is performed in the learning environment
closed skill
a training objective that involves general learning principles - there is not one single correct way of performing a task,
open skill
