Who was Felix Manz?
One of the first Anabaptists, co-founder of the original Radical Reformation, first martyr, died by drowning.
What was Magisterial Reform?
Reform that still placed the church in alignment with the State, in order to wield a lot of power. Zwingli, Calvin and Luther were Magesterial.
What was Radical Reform?
Reform that eschewed a relationship with the state. Included Anabaptists, Apocalyptic Revolutionaries, and Spiritualists.
Who were the Anabaptists?
The most conservative Radical Reformers, they desired separation of Church and State, and a Believer’s Church - baptism should be a choice made at adulthood. Nonviolent.
Who were the Apocalyptic Revolutionaries?
Similar to Anabaptists about baptism, they were heavily politically involved in that they wanted to bring about the Kingdom of God via revolution. Held common property.
Who were the Inspirationalists and Spiritualists?
Radical revolutionaries who believed Scripture was only necessary until one started recieving personal revelations; an individual relationship with Christ was prioritized. Birthed the Quaker movement.
What was the Münster Rebellion?
A rebellion led by John Mathys & John Leiden in Münster, who took over the city because a follower had a vision of New Jerusalem there. Leiden crowned himself as King, but was beheaded when the city became besieged and the people were starving.
What is Sola Scriptura?
Meaning “by scripture alone”, it is the belief that scripture is the sole authority for Christian faith and practise. Championed by reformers.
What is the Priesthood of all Believers?
The belief that all baptized Christians were spiritual in the eyes of the Lord. Laypeople and Clergy had equal rights and responsibilities.
What is Castle Church?
The church in Wittenberg where Luther nailed his 95 theses to the door.
What is Wittenberg?
The city in which Luther got his doctorate of Theology, and where much of his Reform began.
What is Zurich?
City in Switzerland where Ulrich Zwingli spearheaded reform.
What is Geneva?
City in Switzerland where John Calvin spearheaded reform.
What is the Schleitheim Confession?
A confession written by the Anabaptists, in reaction to the extremist views of the apocalyptic revolutionaries.

Believer’s Baptism, Separation from Abomination, Role of the “Ban” (Excommunication), Breaking of Bread (Eucharist as Memorial), Role of Pastors (Leaders & Shepherds), Pacifism & Apoliticism, and Rejection of Oath-making.
