What is the Tenakh?
The jewish bible
What is the mishnah?
One part of the talmud (the core text part), that is written in Hebrew
What topics does the talmud contain?

How is the torah read?
One scroll is taken from the Ark (a special cupboard in a synagogue) and sections are read 4 times a week
What is the Gemara?
The rabbinical analysis part of the Torah, written in armaic (a language spoken in ancient Israel)
How do some Jews view the Talmud
Some reform jews and Liberal jews view the Talmud as a rich source of study while others do not see the Talmud ias important and feel that Armaic is an inaccessible language
What does Kosher mean?
Food that is permitted to eat in Judaism
Why could it be that Jews eat Kosher food?
- To benefit health. (not eating animals that are unconscious before killed reduces the risk of eating an unhealthy animal
- Pigs in Israel would carry diseases
- The law came from God in the Torah (Deuteronomy 14:4-7)
What foods are prohibited in Judaim?
camel, hare, hyrax, pigs, the combination of meat and dairy.
What are some views to Kushrat?
Some reform jews believe that the laws are outdated. Others think they are important as they build sense of connection with God.
What is eco-kashrut?
When contemporary ethica and ecological issues are brought into consideration to determine whether food is fit to eat. e.g cow may be kosher by law but how was the cow raised?
