What is Khums?
It is tax set at 20 per cent of a persons wealth
What is a quote that shows that Prayer is obligatory?
“Prayer is obligatory for the believers at prescribed times” Qu’ran
What is Tawalla?
Association with good people, e.g those who follow ahl al bayt
What is Tabarra?
Disassociation with evil people
What is Amr bil ma’roof and give an example of it?
Encouraging good actions e.g. if a Shia muslims sees someone in need and asks others to help
What is nahi anil munkar?
Discouraging evil actions e.g. if a shia muslim sees a person smoking or drinking alcohol and they try to stop them
Why are the ten obligatory acts important for Shia Muslims?
- They’re a way of showing commitment to Islam
- Enables them to connect with Allah and purify their hearts
- Helps easy the suffering of the poor and promotes a better society
- It is a means for them to be blessed with a good afterlife
