A
- Unfaithfulness
- Abuse
- Apostasy (leaving Islam)

A
- A husband being absent for a long time without keeping in touch
- Not being able to have children naturally

What is the process for divorce?
A
- Initiation - The husband says ‘I divorce you’ 3 times. (some say there must be a gap between each announcement)
- Reconciliation - Couple looks to the Qu’ran which can encourage them to try and reconcile and reach a peaceful solution as ‘peace is best’ (Surah 4:128)
- Completion - Divorce takes place. If the marriage has been consummated( sex has taken place), the husband is required to give the full mahr. If it hadnt, husband is required to give half the mahr

What does Islam say about remarriage?
A
If a person divorces, they are encouraged to remarry because companionship is considered natural and important in Islam

A
- Marriages don’t always work
- People should have the freedom to make decisions about their relationships
- Individuals should have the chance to find love again (remarriage)

What are some Muslim responses to divorce?
A
- Islam recognizes that marriages sometimes fail, and that people will divorce and want to remarry
- Couples should not take divorce lightly and think about if it is the best and most effective thing to do for them and the children
- Remarriage should be to a fellow Muslim as faith is an important part of a relationship and family life
