What is euthanasia?
The deliberate administering of life ending medication by a third party
What is active euthanasia?
Giving a person something that would end their lives
What is passive euthanasia?
Taking something away that would end a persons life e.g. life support
What are muslim beliefs about euthanasia?
The majority are against euthanasia but some believe passive euthanasia can be allowed
What are non religious arguments about euthanasia?
1- The patient can die with dignity rather than continuing to live a poor quality of life
2- Relatives can be removed from the emotional and financial burden of taking care of a terminally ill person
Why would most muslims disagree with non reigious arguments about euthanasia
- They believe in life after death
- Ending human life by our own will is ‘playing God’
