Q

gliding movements

A
  • tend to happen at plane joints
  • many planes, limited by CT or bony features

E.g.
- carpals
- inferior and superior articular processes of vertebrae

Q

angular movements

A

one linear structure bent relative to another, creating an angle

  1. FLEXION, EXTENSION
  2. ABDUCTION, ADDUCTION

Q

types of special movements

A
  1. DEPRESSION/ELEVATION
  2. PROTRACTION/RETRACTION
  3. OPPOSITION/REPOSITION
    - opposition: thumb + little finger together
    - reposition: resturn to neutral
  4. INVERSION/EVERSION
    - inversion: plantar surface of food towards midline
    - eversion: away from midline
