Jewish Holocaust
- 6 million killed

Diaspora of Jews
in AD 135 thousands fled from Jerusalem due to Romans.
Conflict over resources
-The Jewish drove the Arabs out of their land and replaced them with Jewish employees
Balfour Declaration
- They took it as a promise from the British to set up a Jewish state.
- The British didn’t want to look like they were talking sides.
Limited Jewish immigration
1939- only 10,000 every year for 5 years
only 25,000 refugees
Arab land taken
- they had lived there for centuries and formed the majority of the population
- all the same language
Mac-Mahon-Hussein Letters
believed these offered them their independence, however the British didn’t want to surrender control.
Increase in Jewish Immigration
by 1939 almost 450,000 Jews in Palestine. This made the Arabs afraid of losing their country
Partition
Jews made up only a third of the population yet they got 55% of the land. Haifa and Jaffa contained a majority of Arabs and still went under Jewish control
