What did John Adams try to do for his last presidential?
He tries to get a Federalist judge into the Supreme Court.
What did John Adams tell Madison to do?
Deliver the nomination of Marbury
Did Madison deliver the package? Why?
He didn’t deliver it because Thomas Jefferson told him to not deliver it.
How did Marbury react to Madison’s decision.
He sues Madison when he finds out and takes it to court. (Marbury v. Madison)
Who was Marbury?
He was trying to get out of the Supreme Court with the help of John Adams.
Was the Federal Court allowed to decide cases?
NO, they weren’t allowed to decide cases brought against Federal officials.
What precedent did the Marbury v. Madison set?
Gave the supreme court power of Judicial Review over laws (constitutional/unconstitutional)
