What is histology?
The study of the microscopic anatomy of cells and tissues of plants and animals.
What is histopathology?
Study of cell tissue to determine spread of disease. Done via biopsy and slides.
What are the four basic types of tissues?
epithelial, connective, muscle and nervous tissues
What is connective tissue
Tissue of bone, cartilage, tendons and ligaments, and fat.
What is epithelial tissue?
ducts of glands, skin, lining of blood and lymphatic vessels, kidney tubules, etc.
What is Bichat known for?
He hypothesized that diverse body organs contain particular tissues or membranes; he also thought that diseases attacked tissues.
What is Virchow known for?
Cell theory: all cells from cells; cells do not originate from non-living material.
