Describe how to do a Gram stain step-by-step.
- Prepare slide with specimen, setting with heat or methanol.
- Pour crystal violet over slide and wash off excess after 1 min.
- Add iodine and wash off excess after 1 min.
- Decolourize with a mix of acetone & alcohol until it runs clear, then wash with water.
- Add safranin, wash off and dry slide.
