True Labor
What is done at the 1st visit within 12 weeks?
HCG (Determines if pregnant; more than 25 = pregnant)
CBC w/ Diff. (50% increase in Blood Volume)
Blood type and Rh (Rh incompatibility = mom Rh + and baby Rh -)
RPR (screen for syphilis)
HIV
Hemoglobin Electrophoresis (check anemia)
A1C
UA (uric acid found in the blood/urine)
cervical exam & Pap smear
What is done once a month during weeks 12-28?
UA every visit
TB skin test
Rubella titer (blood test that check for immunity from prior vaccine or infection of rubella)
Hep. B test
Triple Screen (test to see higher risk for certain birth defects)
MSAFP (maternal serum alpha - fetoprotein “open neural tube” defects)
Ultrasound
1 Hour Glucola (24-28 weeks) = measures bodies response to glucose, screens for gestational diabetes
What is done every 2 weeks starting week 29-36?
UA at every visit

What is done weekly weeks 36-delivery?
GBS = swab for vagina and rectum (guillan- barré syndrome

trimester –> gestation is 40 weeks pregnant –> 1st trimester 0-13 weeks (form body parts) –> 2nd trimester 14-26 weeks –> 3rd trimester 27 weeks - delivery (cervix begins to change) –> LABOR
