Q

What are the AWHONN guidelines for NST?

A

2 15x15 accelerations in 20 mins in a 32-40 week gestation

1 10x10 acceleration in 1 hour for 24-31.6 weeks gestation

Monitoring the baby on the monitoring stick for 20-30 mins and make sure its reactive!

FHR = 120-140 BPM, need acceleration, shows us o2, FM, and fetal well being = REACTIVE

Q

A substance (fetal antigen) that is present in a pregnant woman’s blood; test for AFP are used to determine pregnancy. AFP in amniotic fluid can be diagnostic of inborn error of metabolism or fetal structure abnormalities, neutral tube defects.

9
Q

When does the mom need to get the RoGam injections when having a Rh Positive fetus?

A

RoGam shot @ 28 weeks

Mom receives RoGam shot 72 H after birth to prevent moms antibodies from attacking fetus in the next pregnancy!

Q

In a CST what is done during the test?

A

Get baseline and get mom to contract
Nipple stimulation
IV Pitocin/Oxytocin

Doing a CST is to see if the baby gets ____________. YOU DO NOT WANT THE BABY ____________ DURING THE TEST!

A

stressed

17
Q

estimated growth and weeks gestation, predict outcome of pregnancies, FHR 110-160 BPM

A

Fetal well-being

18
Q

Pregnancy in which the life or health of the mother OR fetus is jeapardized by a disorder contraindicated with or unique to the pregnancy.

A

High-Risk Pregnancy

19
Q

Fetuses should be active unless ______

A

asleep

20
Q

High risk mom- check fetal movement?

A

2-3 x day for 30 m -1 H

21
Q

Low risk mom - check fetal movements?

A

1-2 x day for 30 M - 1 H

22
Q

You should feel FM __ - ___ within each time frame < __ movements - do a NST,CST, and/or BPp.

A

5-6
3

23
Q

No fetal movement in 12 H =

A

fetal alarm signal

24
Q

Determine FM and well oxygenated fetus which is called?

A

Great fetal well-being

25
Q

of kicks and time frame =

A

minimum of 10 movements in 12 H

26
Q

Maternal assessment of fetal activity =

A

daily fetal movement count (kick count)

27
Q

What ages are explained as high risk pregnancies?

A

less than 17 & greater than 34/35+

28
Q

What age is considered to be advanced maternal age?

A

35+

29
Q

Why would teens seek prenatal care late?

A

aren’t acceptable because of their fear that their family might not react to the situation positively
