What are the layers of the skin?
Epidermis: Outer layer, provides protection.
Dermis: Middle layer, contains blood vessels, nerves, and hair follicles.
Hypodermis (Subcutaneous): Deep layer, made of fat and connective tissue.
What are the main components of the skin?
Hair follicles: Produce hair.
Sweat glands: Produce sweat for temperature regulation.
Sebaceous glands: Produce oil to lubricate skin.
Nerve endings: Detect pain, pressure, and temperature
What are the main types of skin lesions?
Macule: Flat spot on the skin (e.g., freckle).
Papule: Raised, solid bump (e.g., pimple).
Vesicle: Small fluid-filled blister (e.g., cold sore).
Pustule: Pus-filled bump (e.g., acne).
Ulcer: Open sore, often from tissue breakdown.
