Etomidate
Induction Dose: 0.2-0.3 mg/kg
Onset: <30 sec
Duration: 5-10 min
**causes myoclonia and pain on injection
**do not use in porphyria
**causes acute adrenal suppression (block 11 B hydroxylase)
less change in BP/HR
apnea
increases N/V
Propofol
Induction Dose: 2 mg/kg (common dose 120-140)
Onset: <30 sec
Duration: 3-8 min
**injection pain
Large decrease in BP/HR
small amount of myoclonia
apnea
weak anti-emetic
Dexmedetomidine
Induction Dose: 1 mcg/kg infused over 10 minutes followed by 0.2-0.7 mcg/kg/hr
Onset: 2-5 min
Duration: 10-30 min
- *hypotension and Brady
- *anti-shivering action
- *less respiratory depression
Versed
Induction Dose: 1-2 mg
Onset: 30-60 sec
Duration: 15-30 min
Ketamine
Induction Dose: 2 mg/kg
Onset: 45-60 sec
Duration: 10-20 min
no respiratory depression
recovery restlessness
increased BP/HR
less increase in N/V
Flumazenil
Reverse Benzos
Dose: 0.2 mg IV over 15 sec, wait 45 sec and redose if needed to max dose of 1 mg
**resedation concern
**don’t give to people with seizures
