ANS Flashcards
Tardive Dyskinesia Treatment
Valbenazine: vesicular monamine transporter inhibitor —> prevent breakdown of NE?
Tyrosine hydroxylase inhibitor
Metyrosine
Results in decrease in circulating catecholamines d/t prevention of catalytic rxn of tyrosine to dopa by tyrosine hydroxylase
Locations on B1 receptors
All in heart except for renin secretion in kidney
how to treat GI when under stress and going into surgery
Treat as full stomach because catecholamines slow GI down
Which ANS controls blood vessels
SNS—> alpha constrict, beta dilate
Sympathetic effect on eye
Cause mydriasis (alpha)
I.e. atropine and scopolamine block PNS and cause mydriasis. Also cause loss of accommodation by paralyzing the ciliary muscle (cycloplegia)
