Anticholinergic Drugs Flashcards
1
Q
Scopolamine comparison
A
More: sedation (passes BBB), drying of secretions, pupil dilation, prevention of motion induced nausea
Less: increased HR, SM relaxation, decreased H secretion
2
Q
Glycopyrrolate Comparison
A
Doesn’t pass BBB—> no CNS effects
3
Q
Atropine Comparison
A
More: increased HR, relaxation of SM
4
Q
Atropine Dosing
A
- 5 mg: may get initial bradycardia before tachycardia because CNS is working first
- 0: mouth dryness, tachycardia, pupil dilation
- 0: tachycardia, totally block PNS, cycloplegia
5
Q
Atropine Poisening Pneumonic
A
Red as a beet—>flushing
Blind as a bat—> cycloplegia
Dry as a bone—> dry secretions
Mad as a hatter—> CNS effects, restless, hallucinations
Hot as a hare—> temp increase
