- Tandem - Multiple rigs on the same side (Tandem = Train)
- Pincer - Rigs on both sides and meet at the head, surround and drown. (Pincer = Pinch at the head)
- Envelopment - Rigs at multiple locations around the fire take a small piece
What is a stationary attack in wildland firefighting?
A progressive hose lay or booster line attack. It is called stationary because the rig stays stationary.

What are the qualifications for R1 and R2?
To receive an R1 - you need auto ex or the new Common passenger vehicle rescue course, LARRO/RRAO, and Confined Space Technician. The goal of the R1 position is that you have rope training/competence and can enter a confined space as an entrant.
To receive an R2 - you need trench rescue technician, rope rescue technician and your collapse classes (RS1-3 or the new structural collapse 1 & 2). With the new curriculum for SCS, if you have RS1 and RS2 you can take SCS2 to complete your collapse series. RS3 will no longer be offered. If you only have RS1, you will need to complete both SCS 1 & 2.
