PO Analgesic:
- (Infants and Children) 10 mg/kg PO
- Repeat once after 6 hours (maximum 40mg/kg in 24
hours from all sources)
PO Antipyretic: (Children 6 mo–12 yr)
- Only ACP and above may administer ibuprofen as
an antipyretic
- 5 mg/kg for temperature 39 C), may be repeated q
4–6 hr
- 10 mg/kg for higher temperatures, may be repeated
q 4–6 hr
- Do not exceed 40 mg/kg/day from all sources
- Cystic fibrosis (unlabeled): 20–30 mg/kg/day divided twice daily
PO NSAID: (Children 6 mo– 12 yr)
- 30– 50 mg/kg/day in 3–4 divided doses
- Maximum dose: 2.4 g/day.
