What is the ADULT dosing for Acetaminophen?

- May repeat once after 4 hours
- Maximum 4 grams in 24 hours or 1-2 grams in 24 hours if liver cirrhosis
Can Acetaminophen be used concurrently with ibuprofen for analgesia?
Yes, yes it can.
Can PCPs use Acetaminophen as an anti-pyretic?
No.
What is the PEDIATRIC dosing for Acetaminophen?
<30 kg: 15 mg/kg (liquid form)
30-50 kg: 500 mg PO (liquid or tablet, dependent on patient ability)
> 50 kg: 500 - 1000 mg PO
May repeat once after 4 hours (maximum 75 mg/kg or 1 gram in 24 hours from all sources)
- Do not exceed 5 doses/24 hours in pediatric patients ≤12 yrs
- May be used concurrently with ibuprofen for analgesia.
