Q
IgE
A
The immunoglobulin most involved in allergic reactions. B lymphocytes produce IgE antibodies. These bind to receptors on mast cells in the tissues near blood vessels. On reexposure, the allergen binds to the IgE on the mast cell, which causes degranulation of the mast cell, release of histamine, and triggering of the inflammatory response.
