Huskey 12 Foam System (pt 4) Flashcards
1
Q
What is manual mode and when is it used?
What is a concern when operating in the manual mode?
A
- the foam pump will run regardless of water flow.
- This mode is used to activate the foam pump without the flowmeter operating.
- If discharges are closed, these lines may be charged to over 300 PSI.
- At least one discharge or manifold drain must be open before entering this
mode. - there are no interlocks, controls, or specific steps required. (Use additional caution when operating in the manual mode. Failure to comply may result in injury or damage to equipment.)
2
Q
What if there is a delay before getting foam from handline?
What are possible problems?
A
- Needless flushing of system and not recharging
2. System not turned on before charging line (turn on system at pump panel as first step in operation)
3
Q
What happens if the flowmeter stops working and how to tell?
A
- The foam system will not operate (unless in manual mode)
2. GPM will not appear on the display (if GPM does not appear on display the flowmeter needs to be replaced)
4
Q
What is the best way to maintain the foam system?
A
- operated periodically to insure that the foam system is operational, and also to circulate the foam concentrate through the pump.
5
Q
What are the periodic inspections for the foam system?
A
- Weekly: water strainer
- Quarterly: foam strainer
- Annually: hydraulic oil sample (compared to last sample; if matches keep, if not replace oil)
