Huskey 3 Foam System (pt 1) Flashcards
The hydraulic drive system that powers the foam pump is automatically activated when… (answer for huskey 3 and 12)
- Huskey 12: when pump is engaged
2. Huskey 3: when foam pump is turned on
What are the two valves and what do they control?
- Foam supply valve: down for foam tank (tank); up for external foam pick-up (draft)
- Foam selector valve: down for inject mode (normal mode); up for tank filling
After flushing after drafting class B, what additional needs to be done?
Recharge the system with the on-board class A foam
How do you recharge the system after flushing? (Huskey 3 only)
- Select foam source: tank A
- Open manifold drain and Press and hold down the PRIME button (solid yellow LED will illuminate).
- Release the button when foam is discharged out of the manifold drain.
- Allow water/foam solution to run out of manifold drain until it is mostly clear
- Close manifold drain. (System is now charged and ready for use.)
What is the manual mode based on?
How to calculate this?
- 100 gpm flow rate
1. Desired flow gpm / 100gpm x % = % setting [for example 185/100 = 1.85 x .3% = 0.555%]
How to turn on the manual mode?
What is a caution?
- Turn system on
- Press and hold the INC % and the DEC % buttons until the first LED decimal point (to the left) is flashing for 3 seconds. [NOTE: Adjusting percentage to zero will stop the foam pump from flowing, but will leave system in manual mode.]
- Dont turn on unless there is a discharge open. Can increase pressure to 300psi.
What are the highest percentages for the Huskey 3 and 12?
- Huskey 3: 3%
2. Huskey 12: 9.9%
The system has the ability to deliver the following (minimum) foam solution flow rates at accuracies that meet or exceed NFPA requirements at a pump rating of …? (for Huskey 3 and 12?)
- Huskey 3: 150psi
2. Huskey 12: 250psi
