Huskey 12 Foam System (pt 3) Flashcards
1
Q
What are the major components of the foam supply system?
A
- foam concentrate tank,
- foam tank shut-off valve,
- Check valve
- Foam pump
- Foam injection manifold
- auxiliary foam inlet,
- in-line foam strainer,
2
Q
What is this?
What does it do?
A
- Double-acting cylinder pump. (positive displacement)
- Contains 4 cartridge type check valves to prevent foam from flowing the wrong direction in the pump.
- The foam pump speed and operation are monitored by a foam pump transducer located in the hydraulic end of the pump assembly. (Draws concentrate from the on board tank, or drafts concentrate from an exterior source. Will not lose prime, will not cavitate.)
3
Q
What is this?
What does it do?
A
- The Foam Selector Valve
- a 2-way, quarter-turn ball valve that directs the foam for foam injection (normal operation) or tank filling.
(A “CHECK SELECTOR VALVE” message is displayed by the control head in the event that the valve is not in the correct position for the operation selected)
4
Q
Where is the check valve and what does the check valve do?
A
- located in the foam supply line
2. prevents water from flowing backwards through the foam system and contaminating the foam supply.
5
Q
What are the different modes of operation on the Control Head display? (Pt 1)
A
- Class A Foam,
- Draft Class A,
- Draft Class B,
- Prime,
6
Q
What are the different modes of operation on the Control Head display? (Pt 2)
A
- Flush,
- Tank A Fill (optional),
- Manual, and
- Set-up
