What is HPV
Human papiloma virus-
2 types classically -
low risk -low numbers 6 and 11- genital warts
and high risk (16-18)- CIN, VIN, VAIN -70% of cervical cancers
aetiology -usually tranmission by physical and sexual contact
RF - Smoking, multiple sex parnter, unprotected sex, imunosupresssion
Sx of Ix of HPV
Asymptomatic most of time
or genital warts for
warts on vulva vagina cervix, anus (can bleed/itch, become infected)
pink red brown papules
4 types - small popilar, cauliflower, keratotic, flat
Ix - clinical diagnostic with dermatoscope
cervical exam, speculum
histology and cytology (biopsy and smear
Mx of HPV
Medical - imiquimod cream or Podophyllin- CONTRAINDICATED in pregancy
Surgical- Cryotherapy, laster, electrocautery
Prevention - Gardasil HPV vaccin goes for all 4 types–
all children 12-13
