What is ashermans syndrome? (RF_
A
Presence of intrauterine adhesions that may partially or completely occlude uterine caviry-
trauma and infection (chlamydia/PID) cause damage- firbosis and adhesion
Unkown epidiemology but 5-40% of dilation and curetage after misscariage
RD -- trauma and infection endometrial ressection DC (misscariage, TOP) Chlamydia/PID Surgery (c sec, mymoectomy) endomitriosis

Sx and ix and ashermans syndrome
A
Amenorrhoea is main one
Subfertility
cyclical abdominal pain
no external signs
Ix-
Saline Hysterosonography (HSG), TVUSS,
hysterescopy

Mx and complications of ashermans syndrome
A
Mx- hysterostcopic adhesiolysis + post op copper IUD -> PO oestrogen (3m)- > reassess
(Oestrogen induce endometrial prolif)
complications- infertility and miscarriage mestrual distrubances Abnormal placentation complication of operation
