How does glucose get into the cell? (Section 2) Flashcards
1
Q
GLUT-4
A
insulin-regulated glucose transport protein found in adipose tissue of skeletal and cardiac muscle
2
Q
How does glucose get into the cell?
A
GLUT-4 transports glucose to enter cell
Insulin triggers translocation
Once GLUT-4 is on cell membrane, it escorts glucose into cell.
During exercise, glucose cell channels open around the cell, allowing more glucose into cell; resulting in less glucose in the blood
