Energy Systems (Molecule broken down? Enzyme? Num. of ATP produced? Where it occurs in cell? (Section 2) Flashcards
ATP-PCr (phosphagen system)
Breakdown what molecule? phosphocreatine (PCr)
Enzyme? Creatine Kinase
Number of ATP produced? 1 mol of PCr yields 1 mol of ATP
Where does it occur in the cell? Cystol
Glycolytic System (lactate forming)
Breakdown what molecule? glucose (glycolysis)
Enzyme? phosphofructokinase (rate-limiting enzyme)
Number of ATP produced? 2 ATP for each glucose (investment phase uses 2 ATP, generation phase gets 4 ATP
Where does it occur in the cell? Cytoplasm
Oxidative System
Breakdown what molecule? NADH and FADH
Enzyme? O2 AVAILABLE: Pyruvate dehydrogenase (PDH); O2 UNAVAILABLE: lactate dehydrogenase (LDH)
Number of ATP produced? 2.5 from NADH, 1.5 from FADH
Where does it occur in the cell? Mitochondria and/or Cystol
