He didn’t stay in contact about a lot of his foreign affairs.

Because Mussolini was never told about it, meaning he wasn’t prepared for WW2 to be so early.
He also didn’t expect Hitler to team up with a polar-opposite regime.
How is Anschluss an example of betrayal?
Because Hitler only warned Mussolini of his plan a day before it taking place.
How did the Spanish Civil War (SCW) and Abyssinia help Anschluss to take place?
Hitler could drain all of Italy’s economic and military might.
Austrian border was now unprotected.
Allowed Hitler to observe the weakness of the West’s enforcement of consequence of war and empire expansion.

How did Mussolini’s ‘heroic’ behaviour become short-lived from the Munich Agreement 1938?
5 months later he invaded the rest of Czechoslovakia, so Mussolini din’t continue long-term peace.
The Nazis weren’t consulting with him when wanting to break the deal, going against the Pcct of Steel again.

The German Navy could increase to 35% the size of Britain’s Navy.
Why was the Anglo-German Naval Act a betrayal of Italy?
Italy was not involved in a maritime agreement, when that was Mussolini’s big aim.
Meant that Hitler was communicating with the West, making Italy seem irrelevant.
Also goes against the Treaty of Versailles.
