Pharmacology and presentation of Heparin?
A
5000 units Ampoule
Anticoagulant, that increases activity of antithrombin Ill (a naturally occurring anticoagulant) causing inhibition of multiple coagulation factors.

Indicators of Heparin?
A
- STEMI in conjunction with fibrinolytic therapy

Contraindications of Heparin?
A
- Known severe allergy.
- Age 75 years or older. Increased risk of fatal intracerebral haemorrhage.

Cautions of Heparin?
A
- Clinically significant bleeding. Heparin will increase bleeding.
- At risk of bleeding. (PCI Checklist)
- Pregnancy.

- Increased bleeding

Dosing Regimes of Heparin?
A
- Dilute to a total volume of 10ml and administer IV over 1-2mins
