Anticoagulant, that increases activity of antithrombin Ill (a naturally occurring anticoagulant) causing inhibition of multiple coagulation factors.

• STEMI in conjunction with fibrinolytic therapy

Contraindications of Heparin?

Answer 3

• Known severe allergy.
• Age 75 years or older. Increased risk of fatal intracerebral haemorrhage.

Cautions of Heparin?

• Clinically significant bleeding. Heparin will increase bleeding.
• At risk of bleeding. (PCI Checklist)
• Pregnancy.
