- 10% Hypertonic glucose solution

Indicators of Glucose?
A
- Diabetic hypoglycaemia (BGL <3.5mmol) in patients with altered conscious state and/or cannot swallow safely, and IV access obtained.
- Neonatal Resuscitation

- Nil

A
- Ensure IV patency due to potential for tissue necrosis

A
- Nil

Dosing Regimes of Glucose?
A
Adults
- 100ml IV, Repeat PRN checking BSL 10minutely
Paediatrics
- 2ml per kg, Repeat PRN checking BSL 10minutely
Neonatal Resuscitation
- 10ml if BSL <2.5mmol, 20 minutes after oral glucose, repeat PRN checking BSL 10minutely
