Pharmacology and presentation of Droperidol?
A
10mg in 2ml
- Sedative that blocks central dopamine and alpha receptors resulting in mental detachment and decreased agitation

Indicators of Droperidol?
A
- Patients aged greater than or equal to 12 years with agitated delirium causing a mild to moderate risk to safety, when olanzapine has not been administered or is ineffective.

Contraindications of Droperidol?
A
- Known severe allergy

Cautions of Droperidol?
(PIES)
A
- Parkinson’s disease. Worsens movement
- Intoxication.
- Elderly and/or frail.
- Concurrent administration of other sedatives.

Side Effects of Droperidol?
A
- Hypotension, generally due to rapid IV administration

Dosing Regimes of Droperidol?
A
10mg lM or lV.
- Reduce the dose to 5 mg if the patient is frail.
- The initial dose may be repeated once after 20 minutes.

Onset:
- 5-10 minutes
Duration
- 4-6 hours
