What are the parts of the stethoscope?
ear tips, binaural, binaural spring, tubing, bell, and diaphragm
What is the difference between the bell and the diaphragm?
The bell is the thicker part, the diaphragm is what comes in contact with the skin
Where do you hear the pulmonary valve?
upper left chest
Where do you hear the aortic valve?
upper right chest
where do you hear the tricuspid valve?
lower right chest
where do you hear the mitral valve?
lower left chest
what happens at the p wave?
atrial depolarization
what happens at the qrs complex?
ventricular depolarization
What happens at the T wave?
ventricular repolarization
what happens at the PR interval?
delay so ventricles can fill
what happens at the ST interval?
beginning of ventricle repolarization, should be flat
what does S1 correspond to?
AV valves closing
what does S2 correspond to?
SL valves closing
what is a murmur?
abnormal gurgling sound
indicating a valve disorder
what is the equation for stroke volume?
SV= EDV-ESV
