when a person is in good health they do not have any type of disease.
communicable disease
can be spread between organisms
mostly pathogens entering the body causing disease
non communicable diseases
not contagious or spread but can be passed down
e.g poor diet and obesity

human papilloma virus causes most forms of cervical cancer.
HIV
human immunodeficiency virus which causes AIDS weakens a persons immune system and makes it easier for bacteria to cause disease
most die from tuberculosis
how can pathogens be spread between animals?
cuts in skin (injury)
digestive system (sharing food)
respiratory system ( inhaling pathogens)
reproductive system (s*xual intercourse)
how can pathogens spread between plants
vectors such as insects
sap contact from healthy to unhealthy plant
wind, fungal spores blown between plants
how do scientists monitor diseases
study incidence of a disease
rate at which new cases occur in a population over a period of time
