Define aetiology
The cause, set of causes, or manner of causation of a disease or condition.
Define pathogenesis
The manner of development of a disease.
Define symptoms
A physical or mental feature which is regarded as indicating a condition of disease, particularly such a feature that is apparent to the patient.
Define signs
Something found during a physical exam or from a laboratory test that shows that a person may have a condition or disease.
Define diagnosis
Act of identifying a disease from its signs and symptoms
Define prognosis
The likely outcome or course of a disease; the chance of recovery or recurrence.
Define natural history
A study that follows a group of people over time who have, or are at risk of developing, a specific medical condition or disease. A natural history study collects health information in order to understand how the medical condition or disease develops and how to treat it.
Define classification of disease
In a classification of diseases, each disease is included as a specific code. Such a code may be used by physicians to specify a diagnosis
