- Any residual hazards not eliminated through design and construction

What are the differences in role between PD and the Designer?
- PD Plan, manage, monitor and co-ordinate H&S in the pre-con phase of a project
- Designer are to reduce, eliminate or control forseeable risk that may arise when preparing their design.

What are the differences in role between in PC and the Contractor?
- PC Plan, manage, monitor and co-ordinate health and safety in the construction phase of a project
- where as, the Contractor does the same but for construction works under their control

- Client should make suitable arrangements for managing the project
- where as, the Workers should be consulted on matters that affect their H&S & welfare

What are the key differences between H&S at work Act 1974, CDM15 and the HSE?
- CDM15 covers the management of H&S and welfare when carrying out construction projects
- HSE is a independent body that ensure occupational H&S risks are being properly controlled
- HSAWA 1974 sets out general duties which employers have towards employee & members of the public.

- Pre-construction information – informs prospective contractors bidding for work of the H&S welfare requirement
- Construction Phase Plan – details how the contractor will manage the works safely during the construction phase plan
- H&S file – forms part of the PCI, includes H&S risks that should be considered for subsequent projects
