Damselfish
Tenaciously defend their territories, including chasing larger fish and divers. Often feed on algae, have distinct nests or living areas. The Indo-Pacific anenmonefish is a damselfish.
Common types: Sergeant Major, Dusky, Yellowtail, Sulfur, Humbug and Garibaldi damselfish.
Chromes
Similar to damselfish but slightly different in appearance. Feed on plankton & are less territorial. Usually elongated w/deeply forked tails.
Common types: Blue, Brown, Purple, Bluegreen and Bicolor chromes.
Hamlets
Actually members of the seabass family, but look more like damselfish, but have flatter, sloping head profiles. These predators are often colorful & may have stripes or markings.
Common types: Barred, Indigo, Black and Blue hamlets
