Snappers
A
Have upturned snouts and mouths, with visible canine teeth that they snap open and shut when caught (hence their name).
They may be small, and travel well over the reef in loose schools.
Common types:
Gray, Cubera Dog, Schoolmaster, Yellowtail, twinspot and Bluestriped snappers.

Grunts
A
Got their name because they make grunting noise when caught. Seen in small groups & large schools on the reef, or at night singly in sand flats and grass beds. May be colorful w/stripes; some times called sweeetlips.
Common types: French, Bluestriped, Blackspotted and Oriental grunts.
