What are the symptoms of infections?

A
  1. Endocervical infection is assymtomatic 50% of the time
  2. Altered vaginal discharge is the most common (50%)
  3. Lower abdominal pain (25%)

How can it be spread?

A

Sexual contact can also be spread via
1. Rectal infection through receptive anal sex
2. Pharyngeal infection through receptive oral sex

How is Gonorrhoea investigated?

A
  1. NAAT testing and Endocervical swabs
    - if gonorrhea is indentified it is important to obtain a sample for culture and sensitivity testing as there has been high levels of resistance
  2. Screen for other STIs
