Q

What are the 4 types of coastal erosion and tell me the definitions.

A
  • Hydraulic Action: When waves force air into cracks in the rocks which help it break up.
  • Abrasion: When waves bring bits of stone and grind the rock, wearing it away, this is sandpapering effect.
  • Attrition: When rock fragments carried by sea knock against each other causing them to be smaller and smoother.
  • Solution: Water dissolves soluble particles by sea water, this is aided by acid in sea water.
