Q

(Refer to book pg 67)
Is the population density at “A” in the map (Africa) high or low? Explain why

A

The population density is low
(reasons):
1) There are very high temperatures throughout the year
2) It is very hot during the day. It is very cold at night (extremes of temperature)
3) There is very little rainfall due to constant high air pressure
4) The desert soils are not very fertile. Very few plants grow. Specialised plants called Xerophytic (thorny and spiky) grow in the desert.
It is not a suitable place to settle down, so the population density is low.
