What is an ecosystem
It is a community made up of living and non living things (biotic and abiotic factors - in other words, a habitat). These things interact with and help each other.
What is a community
It is a group of organisms adapted to live in a habitat
What is a habitat
It is a place where a group of organisms can live
Describe the non living parts of an ecosystem
Non living things do not grow, need food, or reproduce. Some examples of non living things in an ecosystem are: sunlight, water, air, rocks, etc. (These are known as abiotic factors)
Describe the living parts of an ecosystem
Living things grow, change, produce waste, reproduce and die. These are known as the life processes. Both living and non living things come from matter.
Describe the living part of Habitat Formation
Trees and plants provide a habitat food sources for different types of animal species, including insects, birds and mammals
Describe the non living parts of Habitat Formation
Rocks and water bodies create microhabitats that support various life forms
