morphology : sheet of uniform polygonal cells with cleared cytoplasm: lymphocytes in storm
Embryonal carcinoma
peak age : 20-30
Morphology : Poorly differentiated
pleomorphic cells in cords
Yolk sac tumor
Peak age: 3 years
Morphology : Poorly differentiated endothelium like, cuboidal or columnar cells
90% have elevated AFP
Choriocarcinoma
peak age : Cytotrophoblast and syncytiotrophoblast without villus formation
100% have hCG elevated
Teratoma
all ages
Tissues from all three germ cell layers
Mixed tumors
Peak age : 15-30
Variable
commonly : teratoma + embryonal carcinoma
90% have elevated AFP and hCG
